Job Description

This position is responsible for preparation of Federal and State corporate income tax returns. Preparation of various other tax filings including sales & use tax returns, gross earnings tax returns, property tax filings/payments, etc. Preparation of monthly journal entries for income tax accruals and monthly income tax reconciliation analysis as well as other accruals, estimates and projections. Preparation of supporting calculations and work papers schedules and analyses needed for either:
(1) External independent auditors; (2) SEC filings; (3) Sarbanes-Oxley Act documentation and testing; and (4) Regulatory filings. Provide assistance to Tax Manager and/or Director - Corporate Tax during the course of audits and examinations conducted by either the Internal Revenue Service, Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, U.S Department of Labor . Perform tax research as needed. Assist in the prompt and accurate dissemination of information obtained to other functional areas within the Company. Keep up-to-date with changes to tax regulations/laws and tax accounting & reporting standards. Respond to inquiries, communications and requests for tax information received from: (1) tax authorities; (2) other governmental entities; (3)  Audit Services: (4) PricewaterhouseCoopers; (5) customers; (6) vendors. Provide assistance with preparation of Federal and State tax depreciation calculations (both current and projected). Special Tax Projects: Serve as a team member with other internal and external resources/consultants to review, analyze and implement special tax-related projects on an ad hoc basis.

Job Requirements

 Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in a related analytic discipline including but not limited to Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or the equivalent. Experience performing analyses in several areas of a Finance organization and preferably providing operational support to at least one business area. Direct experience in the related subject matter preferred. Other requirements include strong quantitative skills with the ability to use spreadsheet or other similar programs, strong writing skills with the ability to write reports with a word processing program, and strong verbal skills with the ability to create an effective presentation. Must be self-directed and have demonstrated initiative.
